Crafty Babe

Crafty Babe

Hello Simple Stories friends! Gloria Parra here, and I’m so excited to be back on the blog today sharing a brand-new layout created with the fabulous Crafty Babe collection! This bold and vibrant line is giving total Barbie vibes, with classic pink and black tones, playful icons, and fun patterns that celebrate our love for crafting. It’s the perfect collection to document those crafty moments that bring us joy, and today I’m using it to highlight a layout all about doing what I love most…scrapbooking!

To kick things off, I used a black Color Vibe cardstock as the base for my page. I then created a one-inch-wide frame using the adorable gingham Crafty patterned paper. To do this, I cut strips and carefully trimmed each corner diagonally to form a neat frame. I finished this part by machine-stitching around all four borders to give the page that extra handmade touch and texture I love.

Next, I selected three different patterned papers from the collection and trimmed them into 1.5-inch-wide banners. I layered these vertically on the right-hand side of the page to create a fun, colorful foundation for my photo block. This step adds movement and a perfect pop of pattern to the design.

I printed two 3”x4” photos and matted them using a pink Color Vibe cardstock as well as the multicolor hearts paper for a layered look. These photos are so special, they capture me mid-crafting session, in my happy place, doing what I love! I placed the photos over the banners, centered in the layout to make them the main focus.

For my title, I used the “Crafty Babe” die cut and adhered it below the left photo. I then created a little embellishment cluster around it, adding a heart shape I die-cut using the metal die set that coordinates with this collection. Below the title, I added a journaling tag where I included some typed journaling and decorated the area with a few floral die cuts to soften and frame the space.

To continue the visual flow, I added a second heart on the right-hand side of the page, layered with a dimensional black and white foam heart for a pop of contrast. At the top of the page, I added a third cluster using a viewfinder die cut, one of my favorite icons from the collection—alongside a small yellow floral piece. These three clusters form a visual triangle that helps guide the eye across the page.

To wrap up my layout, I added small decorative touches like deco brads and foam stickers scattered across the page. These little bits of dimension and shine help tie everything together and give the project that final polished look.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a closer look at this fun, crafty layout! I absolutely loved working with the Crafty Babe collection and hope it inspires you to tell your own creative story.  Gloria
