Crafters Just Want to Have Fun! by Andrea Lake

Hi Friends! Andrea with you today sharing a new DIY project and mini album created with the wonderful and dreamy ‘Let’s Get Crafty’ collection by Simple Stories. I’m not sure I can find the words to express how much I love this collection. I wanted to create a special project for myself that I could also make for my friends. I made a cute craft tote bag using a cut file available for purchase at the website

https://createsupplies.shop/listing/1070702453/craft-tote-bag-svg-file . I altered a few of the pieces to make it work for me and to keep it as simple as possible to put together. I also included a fun and colorful mini album I am planning to fill with photos of the different crafting events I’ll be attending this year.

I started with the tote bag and then made the mini album to perfectly fit the size of the bag. Everything has been designed to perfectly fit this collection. As crafters, we LOVE a pretty bag to keep and bring all our supplies when we get together with our friends. This collection is a reminder of how much we love this hobby and the amazing memories we make because of it. Speaking of the collection, I used coordinating Simple Vibe cardstock to make the base of the tote bag and I mixed patterned papers that would add personality to our ‘bag’. It is so easy to work with this collection.

I decorated the cover of the mini album with some chipboard, foam, and puffy stickers, added a few enamel dots, and a bright pink ribbon closure. You will also find bits and pieces as well as some fussy cut pieces of patterned paper on the sides of the bag. My mini Heidi Swapp scissors will also be kept in this bag.

The covers of our mini album are made of chipboard covered with patterned paper. The chipboard pieces for the front and back covers measure 3” x 5” and the piece used for the spine measures 3” x 2 ½”. I used six elastic cords in rainbow order and attached them to the spine to create the binding for the album. I then added together mismatching pages from different patterned papers and created mini signatures I passed through the elastic cords. I have so far decorated only the first signature and I plan on adding pictures and more details to the rest of the signatures as I attend the events and make new memories. I added different embellishments and fussy cut pieces to decorate the first mini book.

I hope this project inspires you to get creative using the ‘Let’s Get Crafty’ collection by Simple Stories. Let me know if you have any questions. I would love to see what you create with it.

Wow, what an absolutely gorgeous project! I’ll echo the others, though – I’d love an in-depth tutorial. I’d like to buy the cut file, but only if there are detailed instructions and even better, a video tutorial for how to make it.
