Cold Hands, Warm Heart! by Amber Mitchell

Cold Hands, Warm Heart! by Amber Mitchell

Hi crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you a fun Winter-themed mini album I created using the new “Feelin’ Frosty” collection.

I love all of the non-traditional colors in this collection. The pinks and purples had me swooning as soon as I saw them! I also love how this collection focuses on the winter season instead of just the Christmas holiday—it makes it perfect for anyone wanting to document some seasonal memories!

To create the base of this album, I took two pieces of medium weight chipboard that measured 3 x 8 inches and wrapped them using the “Winter Days” patterned paper. For extra interest, I stitched torn sheets of layered paper onto the covers as well. This is optional, but it does give the album a lot more character!

To bind my covers together, I created a fun, bendy spine from two pieces of curled paper that measured 2.75 x 4 inches. I attached these to the inside of my covers at 1 inch from either end.

The pages for this album were inspired by Bea Valint. I loved her hanging embellishments technique so much that I decided to incorporate it into this mini.

To create the hanging structure for my pages, I took the inner lining pieces of my album and added two holes to them: one at the top and one at the bottom. I then added an eyelet to each hole for extra security and a finished look. I then strung my pages, which were cut-aparts from the “Tags” patterned paper, onto the inner lining pieces using white elastic thread. To prevent the pages from moving around on the string too much, I added some cute beads in coordinating colors at the top and bottom to act as stoppers. I then tied a knot in the elastic on the backside of my linings and adhered the entire structures to each side of my album.

I love how fun and interactive these pages are!

To create a closure for my album, I took two strips of paper; one measured 1.25 x 7 inches, and the other 1 x 7 inches. I layered these and then adhered the strip to the back cover of my album. I added a craft magnet to the other end and secured it into place.

To embellish the cover of this album I used some of the Foam Stickers and Chipboard Stickers. I love how bold these pieces are and how much they pop against the cover. I also added a bright pink bulldog clip that I added some fun tassels and charms to.

To embellish the inside of my album I used all of the fun embellishments in this collection. Using all of the snowflake icons throughout the album really tied the theme of winter together. The Puffy Stickers made for the perfect accent pieces, as did the Enamel Dots. Small details like these just bring everything together!

Throughout the album I added a few sentiments by using phrases from the Cardstock Stickers.

The last finishing touch was adding a super cute Decorative Brad on top of the layered closure I created.

I absolutely loved working with this collection and I’m so ready for Winter and all of its festivities now! Thanks for stopping by my post today! I’ll see you next time with another fun project!

Absolutely adorable! I like the way you used both the kit items and your creativity to make the mini album! The beads were a great idea!
