This is My Story! by Cheryl Gerhard
Hey Simple Stories friends! Cheryl here today with a mini binder featuring the beautiful new The Simple Life collection.

The colours of this collection are simply stunning. They are very muted and all of the floral elements make it look so dainty and calming. This may be one of my favourite mini albums I have ever created! There is something about these soft colours, as well as black and white images that make it so incredibly elegant. I think this collection could work really well for a wedding album too.

I decided to create a mini binder and use some of the smaller 4x4 and 3x4 page protectors from Simple Stories in my album. I also created four pockets with patterned paper that hold tags, each of them have machine stitching with metallic gold thread, to keep the elegant look I am trying to achieve. The first page that features the chipboard frame is probably my favourite. I absolutely love the simplicity of it paired with the monochromatic floral die cut elements.

To give the album a little bit more colour I have added a couple of gold leaf sequins into two of the page protectors and sewed around them, to make sure they don’t fall out. To stay within the leaf/flower theme I also stitched some gold leaves on the first page with my sewing machine. No skill needed here - the machine did it all for me!

I’m totally into house plants right now, so can you imagine how excited I was to see house plant elements featured in The Simple Life?! YAY! I used the front and back of each tag pocket to create a space for either journalling or feature a sticker/quote that stands out. Enamel dots add the perfect little finishing touch to each page.

I had gold metallic elastic in my crafty stash, which I used to create a closure for this binder. I simply added two eyelets to the corners of the back of my album and fed my elastic thread through it. The 3mm pearl beads are also from my stash and I thought they give this elegant album a nice touch. I always associate pearls with elegance.

This collection is so incredibly beautiful, and I hope this mini album gives you inspiration to create with a more muted colour theme.
