Hello, crafty friends!
There’s something magical about being on the road the changing skies, unexpected views, and those little moments that make you stop and simply take it all in. The Open Road collection by Simple Stories captures that feeling so beautifully, and it was the perfect match for some photos I had been saving.
These photos were taken during a late afternoon drive, with a stunning sunset painting the sky and, surprisingly, a Ferris wheel right there on the horizon in the middle of São Paulo, Brazil (where I current live in). I had these photos on my phone camera roll for so long, but this collection inspired me to finally bring them to life on paper. To tell this story, I designed a unique layout featuring a winding road as the main element. I first sketched the road on a simple sheet of paper and used it as a template to cut my patterned papers, layering a floral print over a gray background for contrast and depth.

Along this curvy path, I created clusters using Bits & Pieces, brads, and stickers, almost like little stops along the journey. Each curve holds its own detail, guiding your eye through the page and telling the story step by step. I love how full and dynamic the layout feels, while still allowing the photos to shine, especially with their rich blue skies that complement the collection’s color palette so well.
