Hello Simple Stories friends!
Have you seen the new Bunnies & Blooms collection?! It includes beautiful florals (my favorite) and patterns that are great for Easter or spring-themed projects. The collection is also perfect for documenting photos of all those special girls in our lives, such as today’s project featuring my youngest daughter.
As with my previous blog post, I chose to use the coordinating stencil to make a background for my layout, and I love how it looks behind the black and white photo. To create the rainbows across the page, I used mixed media paper with oxide inks in colors matching the patterned papers I chose to use.
After adding the rainbows, I machine stitched strips of paper below them that mimic the colors used with the stencil. Because I love loads of texture on my projects, I chose to turn up the edges of the strips of paper as well as leave the thread salvages attached.
With the stenciled rainbow dry and the strips of paper in place, I began embellishing the layout. The photo was backed with a rainbow patterned paper and adhered with foam squares. Next, I used Bits & Pieces with chipboard stickers to add flowers and butterflies and chose the Bloom foam sticker for the title.
I love using quotes on my projects and found this one, used above and below the picture, on Pinterest. The text was typed on copy paper with my manual typewriter, cut into strips, and glued in place. You may notice that the ends of the typed text are lifted off of the layout, and I did this by using just one bit of glue in the center of each strip of paper.
Here’s one last look at the finished layout.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the Bunnies & Bloom collection, I encourage you to do so because it is beautiful!
