There’s just something so special about a collection that feels collected, curated, and full of stories—and Simple Vintage Junk Drawer from Simple Stories does exactly that. This latest batch of handmade cards was all about layering, texture, and those perfectly imperfect details that make junk-drawer style so charming. From butterflies and vintage ephemera to soft stitching details and heartfelt sentiments, each card feels like a tiny keepsake you’d want to tuck away and treasure.
For this card set, I pulled from a wide variety of goodies within the Simple Vintage Junk Drawer collection. I used the 6x8 paper pad as my main foundation, mixing in several of the Vintage Basics Kit papers, cut-apart cards, and tag elements for easy layering and focal points. To really bring that curated, collected look to life, I incorporated pieces from all of the ephemera packs, tucking them behind sentiments and clustering them throughout each design. I also used the foam stickers and chipboard stickers to add extra dimension and visual interest to sentiments and icons, then finished everything off with decorative brads for texture and a touch of vintage hardware charm—perfect for enhancing the junk-drawer aesthetic this collection does so beautifully.

Card One: Hello Beautiful
This card features a warm, neutral base layered with ledger-style papers, tickets, and journaling elements. I placed the bold “hello” sentiment front and center, softening it with leafy accents and delicate butterflies. A metal-style label and Decorative Brad add the perfect finishing touch.
Card Two: Remember
Built on a soft pink and yellow palette, this card layers journaling cards and ephemera behind a strong sentiment strip. A paper doily adds beautiful texture, while the butterfly and button details bring movement and a nostalgic feel to the design.
Card Three: Joy – More of This
For this card, I leaned into the cabinet-drawer imagery and timepiece details. I created a layered focal cluster with die cuts, leaves, and labels, then added the “JOY” sentiment and a small phrase strip to tie everything together.
Card Four: You Hold the Key to My Heart
This card has a bold, graphic look with a strong central sentiment layered over vintage papers, florals, and ticket elements. Darker neutrals frame the design, while a pop of green and a key motif add contrast and charm.
Card Five: Timeless Moments
Soft layers of ephemera and florals create a calm, classic feel on this card. I added a seam binding bow and metal-inspired Decorative Brad embellishment to bring in texture while keeping the overall design light and elegant.
Card Six: Simple Pleasures
A striking butterfly takes center stage on this design, layered over vintage book text and library-style cards. Twine, subtle stitching details, and small metallic accents help give this card lots of texture without overwhelming the focal point.
Card Seven: Beauty in the Possibilities
This card features a clipboard focal point layered with florals, butterflies, and ephemera pieces. The typewriter-key letters from the Foam Stickers spelling “BEAUTY” add dimension and interest, while the soft blue tones keep everything feeling cohesive.
Card Eight: Delight in the Little Things
One of my favorites, this card layers a doily, ephemera cards, and botanical elements to create a full yet airy design. The key embellishment, which is from the Chipboard Stickers at the bottom, grounds the card, while the sentiment and butterfly draw the eye upward.
