Bio:
Hey everyone, I’m Niki, aged 40 and from the UK. I live near London with my husband and three kids aged 11, 9 and 4. I’m a stay-at-home mum but also run GoGo Getaway Retreats which is a scrapbooking retreat company here in the UK and that keeps me pretty busy! I love to create and aim to do something creative every day. I love bold designs and documenting the fun and crazy things my family get up to. I love coffee and chocolate and patterned paper! I’m so happy to be on such a fantastic team with so many talented creatives and I'm excited to continue my journey with Simple Stories.

Hey everyone! This is Niki (
@nikiclairecreates) here with you today and I’m delighted to be sharing two layouts I have made with the exceptionally beautiful Simple Vintage Life in Bloom collection. I just can’t get over how beautiful the colours are in this collection and paired with stunning florals, this collection has my heart.
For my first layout I fussy cut some of the big florals from one of the patterned papers and created a base in the middle of a white cardstock background. I also tucked in lots of the Floral Bits. I added some coloured ink to the background as a sort of ‘glow’ around my florals.
I nestled my photo into the florals and used the Page Pieces to add a title and some embellishments. I love the dramatic pop of black amongst the colourful florals, so my black title really stands out, together with the black camera embellishment.
I trimmed down my white background and placed it, at a slight angle, onto a sheet of the gingham patterned paper from the 12x12 Gingham Basics Pack. I have a real love for gingham prints so simply had to use them!
I finished off the layout with a few splatters of black ink and some little flowers from the Rub Ons pack.
For my second layout, I dived into the 6x8 Paper Pad and was drawn to the sheet with the film strip on as I loved the affirmations within the frames. I attempted to make it into a feature on my 12x12 layout, but something just wasn’t quite looking right, I felt that the film strip element needed to stretch across the whole layout. So, I took the second sheet of the same paper within the 6x8 Pad and matched them up which resulted in an extended piece – and you can hardly notice the join, only if you look really, really close!
I mounted this onto a piece of black cardstock which I then added to my black & white gingham background paper from the 12x12 Gingham Basics Pack. I got my photo in place and then began to tuck in lots of fussy cut floral and Floral Bits along the strip and around my photo. I also used more of the Rub Ons which are a beautiful new product.
I added chipboard pieces from the Chipboard Clusters as well as ephemera pieces from the Page Pieces pack and Bits & Pieces pack.
I finished off with my journaling and a few splatters of black ink.
Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed seeing these two layouts.
Happy scrapping
Niki xx
