Awesome !

Hi friends, @vickiscraps here today to share a layout with the very cool, masculine collection, Rustic Legend.

Sometimes a single pattern just begs to be the focal point of a layout — and the ruler paper - Level Up - completely stole my attention! I loved the mix of colours and the slightly vintage feel of the rulers, so I decided to give them center stage. I carefully fussy cut each piece from the 12x12 paper and then arranged them into a bold, graphic design radiating from the top and bottom of the page. The angles add so much energy and really draw your eye straight to the photo in the middle.

For my background, I chose one of the softly textured papers from the collection - the reverse side of Instant Classic - with those gorgeous, blended denim tones it adds interest without competing with the rulers. The stitching detail around the edge is such a nice subtle touch and I added some rub on numbers for an extra bit of detail.

I kept my photo fairly central and built-up layers around it using a chipboard frame on top of the photo and from there, I had so much fun adding embellishments that really lean into that outdoor, adventure theme.

You’ll spot pieces like the trees, hiking boots, compass, and camera—all perfect for documenting a day out exploring. I tucked them in around the photo to create a balanced cluster while still letting those ruler elements shine. The little park pass piece is one of my favorites — it adds such a fun storytelling detail!

For the title, I went with the bold “Awesome” foam sticker, which felt just right for this happy moment. I love how the pop of red ties in with the ruler colors and brings everything together. To finish things off, I added a few enamel dots and star accents for a little extra texture and movement.

This was such a fun way to take a themed paper and turn it into a dynamic design element. Don’t be afraid to cut into your favorite patterns — you might just discover a whole new way to use them!
