It’s Cheryl here on the blog, and today I’m sharing a bright and cheerful tag flip mini album I created using the new Fun Times collection – the perfect choice for documenting a music festival I went to in London earlier this summer!
This collection is packed with colourful icons, playful patterns, and fairground flair: think Ferris wheels, circus tents, tickets, and cotton candy! As soon as I saw the circus tent roof from the Big Bits pack, I knew I wanted to make it the cover of my album. I re-created that iconic tent shape and gave it a personal twist to make it the cover of my tag flip. It sets the tone right away and brings in that bold, festive energy that this collection is all about.
Tag flips are one of my favourite ways to create – they’re quick to make, easy to flip through, and so fun to personalize. I cut a variety of tags in different sizes, shapes, and patterns to keep things playful and full of movement. The tags feature photos from the day, and I layered them up with pieces from the Bits & Pieces, chipboard stickers, and enamel dots.
To give it that extra sparkle, I added gold machine stitching across the tags. It’s subtle but so effective – it adds a shimmer that catches the light and ties in beautifully with the bright, bold tones of the collection. Plus, stitching gives everything that handmade, one-of-a-kind touch I love so much!
I didn’t stick to a strict layout, instead, I let each tag come together organically using a mix of embellishments, journaling spots, and decorative elements. The key was to have fun and capture the energy of that summer day (and yes it did rain a little bit! It’s England after all…).
