Shine & Grow! by Amber Mitchell

Shine & Grow! by Amber Mitchell
Hi crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you a colorful layout I created using the new Color Vibe products. This is the first layout I've created as a member of the Simple Stories design team and I'm thrilled with not only how it turned out, but also with how much fun it was to create!

To create this layout, I used two different Color Vibe collections; Spring and Lights. The pastel shades of both of these collections worked really well together!

The photo I chose to document is one of my nephew from a few years ago. It's actually from a trip to our local pumpkin farm, but the background of the yellow door paired perfectly with the yellow shades in this project.

The first step in creating this layout was the rainbow. I used a cut file from Paige Evans to create this and machine stitched along the different colored segments of the rainbow to add more texture to the project.

Behind the rainbow, I added yellow strips of paper to mimic sun rays. I folded these paper strips in half to add a bit of dimension. I love how the brightness of the yellow pops against the blue background.

To finish off the background itself, I added a few white stars using a stencil and some white gesso. Most of these stars ended up being covered up by all of the fun clusters, but I still think it was a nice touch to add.

After adding my photo to the top right-side of the rainbow, I moved on to embellishing this layout.

I used a mix of flowers from the Color Vibe collections, along with some dimensional flowers I created using cut files.

The Color Vibe flower die cuts are so fun to work with because you can mix and match different pieces to create unique styles. I made several flowers from these pieces and finished them off by adding some Color Vibe buttons to the centers of them.

I then layered these, along with the cut file flowers, on both the left and right side of the rainbow. I created large clusters to really drive home the title of this layout, which is "Shine & Grow". I added this title using Color Vibe Foam Alphas in the shade yellow.

To finish off this layout, I used some of the Color Vibe Chipboard Bits from the Lights collection. I added two across the photo itself and another two under the title. I took a few of the hearts and stars from this embellishment pack to further frame the rainbow and photo.
I love how happy and colorful this layout is. The Color Vibe products made the process of this project quick and easy, tying everything together nicely!
Thanks so much for stopping by my post today! I'll see you next time with another fun project!
