Hello friends! Anya’s here today and I am very excited to share a new album I created this week using the gorgeous Pumpkins & Plaid collection. I love everything about this line and just had to make another album, but this time I decided to share with you some step-by-step instructions, along with photos. Hopefully this will inspire you to create a similar mini album!
Take two pieces of patterned paper that you want to use for the cover and connect them to create a longer piece. Cut 5 pieces of chipboard paper (see sizes on the photo) and adhere them in a row on the patterned paper, leaving about 3mm space between each piece.
1.Cut the paper off each corner at a diagonal, leaving about 2mm at the tip of the corner. 2.Glue each side of the paper down, pressing the tip of the corner down (it is very important to get a clean look of the corners). 3.Finish each corner as shown in the photo.
Take the stylus tool or a bone folder and press all of the seams down, as shown in the photo.
Cut a piece of white cardstock (you may need two pieces to cover the whole lengths), slightly smaller than the cover and adhere inside the cover. With the same tool, press each folding line, without breaking the paper. If you hold your fingers at the fold and fold the cover, it will help you create a visual line that you need to score. Try to work fast at this step but be careful not to break the paper.
Take two pieces of ribbon (about 10” long each) and attach to the front and back cover with double sided tape. Cover the attached end on the back cover with stickers. Decorate the front cover to hide the attached ribbon at the front.
Set aside all of the papers with cards and tags from the Pumpkins & Plaid collection. Cut the rest of the papers to 6.75” tall. You may add an extra sheet or two if you like from solids in coordinating colors. My album has a total of 10 pages. Cut apart all of the cards and tags from the patterned papers you have set aside to use for decorating the mini book.
Attach pages to the album scoring and folding each page as you go. For example: score the first page that you will attach at the left side of the back cover at 1”, 1”, 4” 3.5” and cut the paper off at the last scored line. Fold the first page that you will attach at the right side in reverse: 3.5”, 4”, 1”, 1” and cut off the extra.
Glue each of these pages to the back of the cover by the first folded 1” piece slightly stepping away from the folded seam.
Pepeat the process to add all of the pages to the album. Two things you need to remember. The first scored and folded piece we use to glue the page down. But it is IMPORTANT that the next score line is decreased each time by ⅛ of an inch. This will help with the bulk in the album you will add with photos and decorations. Also, make sure you always step away from the seam of the previous page. You may also adjust the width of your pages to your liking as long as it fits inside the next set of pages.
After you have added all of the pages to the album, decorate each page spread to your liking, distributing colors throughout each page spread to create unity. You may also decorate the inside covers as I did here.
You may also create pockets from some of the pages as shown in the photo above. In the end the album can fit up to 40 photos. You may add more photos by adding more pages to the album.
