A Little Autumn Journal with Pumpkin & Plaid
Hello, crafty friends! There’s something so cozy about autumn, the warm colors, crisp textures, and slower moments that make us want to pause and take a little time for ourselves. The Pumpkin & Plaid collection captures that feeling beautifully with its rich autumn palette, charming illustrations, and playful details. Inspired by the collection, I created a little hand-stitched journal designed to hold all kinds of autumn memories.
For the cover, I used one of the patterned papers from the collection and filled the inside with simple white pages. But instead of keeping every page the same size, I mixed in patterned papers, journaling cards, and even tags, creating a playful and interactive journal with lots of different layers and formats. I stitched the book by hand using embroidery floss, separating the six strands into three for a delicate finish.
I decorated the cover with pieces from Simple Pages, adding chipboard elements and my favorite brads for extra charm and dimension. For the closure, I found a large paper clip in my craft stash that happened to match the collection’s color palette perfectly.
What I love most about this little journal is that there are no rules for what belongs inside. It can hold photographs, handwritten thoughts, sketches, little stories, favorite quotes, or simply tiny pieces of everyday life. It’s an open invitation to slow down, create, and document autumn in whatever way feels most natural.
