Welcome to the Simple Stories blog! It’s Rebecca here, and I’m so excited to share my latest layout with you today. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and captured plenty of memories in photos to cherish!
Today, I’m sharing a layout I created using the gorgeous Snow Pine Lodge collection.
As someone who loves the traditional Christmas colours of red, green, and gold, I decided to choose papers that reflected this classic palette. I cut strips from each paper and rolled the tops to add texture and dimension, then finished off each strip with a banner-style point. To add some variation, I staggered the strips in different lengths and arranged them across my white background. The simplicity of the white base really allows the vibrant colors to shine.
Once the strips were in place, I centered my circular photo, propped up with foam behind it to give it a little extra lift.
Around the photo, I added embellishments from the Floral Bits and Pieces die cuts. I’m a huge fan of poinsettias at Christmas, so I couldn’t resist adding a few to my clusters! To give them a bit of flair, I finished them off with some Decorative Brads, which added a lovely mix of textures. For my title, I selected two small words from the Foam Stickers, which slotted in perfectly among my floral clusters.
I absolutely loved how the layout looked with the open, white space. Sometimes, I find that minimalist designs with lots of white space are just what a layout needs. But, in this case, I felt that the layout needed a little more balance. To achieve that, I decided to replicate the banner strips and floral clusters in the bottom-left corner of the layout. This helped balance out the pops of colour with the white space.
