Hi friends, Andrea here, and today I’m sharing a bright and happy 12x12 layout created with the Pink Lemonade collection from Simple Stories. This page documents such a special trip to Houston where I got to spend time with my family and attend a concert from a Latin artist we’ve loved for over 25 years. It was one of those trips that fills your heart completely—I truly enjoyed every second… except maybe the long airport wait on the way back (but that’s a story for another time—haha!). For this project, I also wanted to take a slightly different approach and create a more step-by-step style layout that you can easily follow along with while watching the process video available on my YouTube channel.
For the design, I focused on creating a layered, colorful background using several patterned papers from the collection. I started with the 12x12 “Love This Life” paper, then layered a 12x8 piece of “Simple Joys,” a 12x6 ½ piece of “Lemon Squeezy,” and a 12x5 ½ piece of “Main Squeeze.” I centered all the layers on the background and added machine stitching along the edges to bring in texture and help define each section. To add extra interest, I cut two 12x1 ½ strips of Coral Color Vibe cardstock and used a border punch to create scalloped edges, placing them at the top and bottom of the layered section.
For the photo area, I used Simple Stories Page Template 12 as a guide to cut a coral cardstock mat and arranged one 4x4 photo alongside four 2x2 photos with white borders. I adhered the photos using thin foam adhesive to add dimension and placed the entire photo block slightly to the left of the page. The “memories” foam sticker became the perfect title, anchoring the design while keeping the focus on the photos and story.
To finish the layout, I created clusters using Journal Bits and Bits & Pieces on opposite corners of the photo mat to keep the design balanced. I also added a few cardstock phrase stickers and decorative brads for extra detail and texture. My journaling was written using a fine tip liner to keep everything neat and cohesive.
