Hello, Simple Stories friends! It’s Jen today, and I am sharing a 12x12 layout using the Pack Your Bags Collection to document a couple of pictures from our trip to NYC in 2022. This new collection was so fun to create with and was a perfect pairing with my photos.
As you may well know by now, I am a big fan of white cardstock, which is what I used as the background for my layout. Before I began adding paper and ephemera, I used the Hearts & Stitches Stencil with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink to create a soft backdrop.
Next, I cut 12 one-inch strips of patterned paper in varying lengths and adhered them atop the stenciled images. To create more dimension, I folded the sides of every other piece upwards. I then set about adding the photos and embellishments to the project, and I used a little bit of everything.
The larger photo was backed with patterned paper while the smaller was backed with a tag from the Big Bits & Pieces.
After adhering the photos, I embellished the project with more tags, chipboard, stickers, and die cuts before adding the foam sticker title. I decided against journaling but did use a roller stamp to add the date to a small tag that is tied to the handle of the die cut suitcase with twine. Lastly, I used a black marker to added faux stitching around the border of the layout, which was the perfect finishing touch.
The new Pack Your Bags Collection from Simple Stories is perfect for use with your travel-themed projects, and I plan to use it again as I continue documenting memories from this trip with my daughters.
